In May this year, the Government of Estonia opened a pick-up point for its e-Residency ID cards in Johannesburg, making e-Residency a viable option for South Africans to establish and run EU-based companies 100% online and from distance. Thus far 84,000 people worldwide have signed up for Estonia’s e-Residency. Mats Kuuskemaa, Head of Business Strategy at e-Residency will explain the application process and benefits of e-Residency for entrepreneurs in South Africa and the region.
 
Annika Järs, Startup Estonia Startup Visa Lead will offer insights into how it is possible to apply for startup status for Estonia-based companies and how Estonia’s startup visa programme enables founders and employees of startups to relocate to Estonia. Thus far Estonia has one of the highest per capita number of startups in the world whereas 7 unicorn companies have grown out of Estonia of have been founded by Estonians.
