Google for Startups is excited to share that Chicago will be the first city to host Gemini API Sprints — a dynamic in-person event designed to help startups start, build, and grow with the power of Google AI. 

During the Gemini API Sprint, selected startups will:

  • Get Google AI tech: Experience interactive Google AI product demos and learn how startups can leverage tools like AI Studio, Agentspace, and Vertex AI.
  • Learn best practices: Get hands-on technical support from Google AI experts to implement Gemini into your tech stack — watch an agent be built and deployed live!
  • Meet the right people: Connect with other great founders who are leveraging AI in impactful ways. We’ll end the day with delicious food and cocktails during a rooftop happy hour with Googlers, investors, and ecosystem leaders!

Google for Startups is teaming up with 1871 to help Chicago founders level up their startup with the power of Google AI. This is an application-based opportunity that will be tailored to selected participants. This Gemini API Sprint will take place in Chicago on July 23rd, 2025 during TechChicago Week from 1:00pm - 4:00pm CT followed by a rooftop happy hour. The deadline for startups to apply is July 18th, 2025. We anticipate that the application will take less than 5 minutes to complete and can be completed from a mobile device.

An ideal participant is a leader at a startup that:

  • Leverages or planning to leverage AI in their product or operations.
  • Has an identified AI feature or product to build during the Sprint.
  • Have some technical capacity to work with APIs and build out their idea during the Sprint.
