Singapore for instance, had already announced in 2019 its '30 by 30' strategy which aims for 30% of food needs to be locally produced by 2030 and was well on the path to transforming the industry to meet those targets before COVID-19 struck.

Around the world, the demand for plant based substitutes and meat alternatives is growing substantially each year, with a number of startups in the region and abroad capitalizing on this trend. With that growth, comes more demand for vegetables - both from consumers and companies. Couple this with the threat of climate change, growing population trends and urbanization and you have a confluence of events that have given rise to new businesses and companies changing the way we farm, source and consume our food.
