We are proud to host Carol & Eddie Sturman - founders of Sturman Industries at our event. Sturman Industries is a world leader in superior process control and mechanical systems. In 2003, Sturman Industries was inducted into the United States Space Foundation Hall of Fame for applying their space technology to engines “to benefit planet Earth.”
Join us to connect, get inspired and learn from the people behind a company that brings the best Mechanical, Aeronautical and Electrical Engineering talent together to research and develop cutting-edge technology and products that makes S.E.N.S.E. Their expertise and proprietary solutions have applications ranging from Space to Defense to Energy sectors globally.
Described as being “one of America’s greatest natural resources,” Eddie Sturman is a leader in understanding and applying fundamental scientific and engineering advancements to mechanical systems to answer critical issues facing society and the planet. Over his career, Eddie has been named as inventor in well over 160 U.S and foreign patents. Tasked to develop efficient controls for the Apollo space program, Eddie pioneered digital “latching” valves using magnets to hold the valve open without electricity. His energy efficient valves and actuators helped propel Apollo and control its thrusters. Eddie is a leader in applying his “digital” controls that utilize substantially less electricity, modernize system design, and transform performance to meet future needs. He saw that he could bring the same digital advantages to the mechanical world as we have seen in electronics—miniaturization, ultra-fast response, improved performance and reduced cost.
A visionary business leader, Carol Sturman has spent the last 25 years building a creative corporate culture and promoting innovative energy systems and industrial equipment. Her early career included teaching, and then attainment of the position of Vice President of a large regional California real estate company. Carol first entered into the field of energy as a consultant with Southern California Gas Company, promoting energy conservation practices and products.
Carol was deeply involved formation, leadership and business development of her now 25 year-old company - Sturman Industries - that is aimed at helping answer important energy, environmental and economic challenges of our time. Carol helped lead the company’s business growth at an average rate of approximately 100% annually in the first ten years and enjoy successful relationships and programs with major partners in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
In 2007 Ms. Sturman was nominated for the Society of Automotive Engineers prestigious J. Cordell Breed Award for Leadership in Mobility. Out of 27 nominees, Ms. Sturman was announced as the winner of the award presented at the 2008 SAE World Congress, attended by tens of thousands of international participants held annually in Detroit, Michigan. In 2009, Carol was honored as a Colorado Springs Business Journal Woman of Influence.
