Margaret Thorpe Williamson is an experienced project and fund development specialist with extensive expertise in community and civic affairs, coalition building and project implementation. Margaret is executive director/CEO of Pro-Literacy Detroit, a non-profit organization established in 1984. Pro-Literacy Detroit provides adult education and literacy programs in Metro Detroit. Pro-Literacy Detroit, founded in 1984, provides literacy and basic education tutorial services in Metro Detroit using volunteer tutors. This Program is for adults 16 and older who need to improve their reading ability. Margaret also serves as Chair of LaunchDETROIT, a program founded in 2012 by Rotary District 6400 Foundation to support and develop entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Detroit Region, providing access to business loans, Mentors, business classes, and networking opportunities. Launch Detroit, established in 2012, supports entrepreneurs in Metro Detroit, Taylor, Trenton, Southgate, and Riverview by providing free business education courses, Mentors, Networking Opportunities, and Micro-Loans. Margaret is a life-long Detroiter, a graduate of Wayne State University, B.S. Business Administration, and Central Michigan University, MA Management and Supervision. She has received City, State, County, Federal, and International Awards for coalition building and Community Service.
