Muhammad is the founder and CEO of Tajawal; an online travel platform for airline tickets and hotel bookings, crossed the $1 million sales figure in the first six weeks of its beta-testing phase. Since then, the online platform has exceeded its projected sales targets by 30 percent in the first four months of operation. He will be sharing a lot of insights on his entrepreneurial journey!

About this event

A seasoned entrepreneur and business leader, Muhammad Chbib has been integral in the inception, strategic development and operation of several organisations in Europe and the MENA region since the late 1990s.

In 2000, Muhammad set up his own B2B online marketplace based in Munich, a novel concept at the start of the new millennium. Until 2004, he shared his business expertise as a specialist management consultant, supporting different organizations in areas of strategic sourcing and IT-project management, while simultaneously running his own projects.

From 2004 to early 2011, Muhammad led McKinsey & Company’s client service teams, where he worked on large-scale transformation projects for various Fortune 500 companies in the online, financial, technology and telecommunications sectors, both in the Middle East and Europe. 

in 2011, Muhammad moved to Dubai to take the entrepreneurial plunge with Sukar.com, a daily-deal online platform, which was acquired by the Middle East’s biggest online marketplace Souq.com in 2012.

Muhammad currently leads the Online Business Unit of Saudi travel giant Al Tayyar Group, with a focus on developing the company’s technology lab in the online travel space. The Online Business Unit currently, which has generated close to USD 500 million in net sales within less than three years, operates two online travel agency brands, Almosafer and Tajawal.

Muhammad has a passion for entrepreneurship and coaching young aspiring leaders, topics he regularly advocates and promotes across the region and beyond. He is fluent in Arabic, German, English and French, Muhammad is German of Syrian descent. His upbringing and professional experience in multinational organisations has seen him successfully develop brands to large cross-nation audiences.
