Rachel Delacour is the Start-up Evangelist for Zendesk and co-founder of BIME Analytics, a pioneer in SaaS Cloud Business Intelligence (BI) startup originally located in Montpellier, France. BIME analytics was acquired by Zendesk in October 2015.
As a young, female financial controller she saw a real business need for BI tools in the age of Big Data, leading her to found BIME in 2009. The company offers true cloud BI service and was the first front-end analytics partner of Google BigQuery. BIME Analytics became an international success story, via Paris, Montpellier, and Kansas City. Rachel is a firm believer that today, a business can be built from anywhere, and that by using the cloud to connect teams and reach global markets, geographical boundaries no longer exist in the world of start-ups.
Rachel is also one of France Digitale’s board members, an association of startups and VCs lobbying for pro-startup legislation in France and beyond. Further, Rachel is part of the broader jury for Station F in Paris to evaluate accelerator startup candidates, supporting the burgeoning startup infrastructure in France. In 2016, she was named in the France list for Inspiring 50 http://www.inspiringfifty.com/inspiring-fifty-france-2016/
Prior to BIME, Rachel held finance positions at Carrefour and FM Logistics Russia. She holds a Masterʼs finance degree from the Euromed business school in Marseille.
Rachel Delacour is the co-founder and CEO of We Are Cloud, the creator of the pioneering business intelligence (BI) application Bime, born in and built for the cloud. Rachel’s professional experiences in finance and controlling brought her to the realization that business intelligence was just too hard: too hard to use, too hard to manage, too hard to buy, and too hard to get right. Seeing a real business need for BI tools in the age of cloud computing led her to found We Are Cloud in 2009. Rachel began her career at FM Logistics in Moscow where she audited logistics hubs in Moscow, Kiev and Siberia. After returning to France, she worked as a controller for Carrefour, one of the world’s largest retailers. Rachel later set up the controlling department at Bata, a Czech shoe manufacturer with a global presence, establishing business processes for the buying department and implementing a BI solution from scratch. Her experience as a young, female controller who had to wrestle with an all-male IT department over unfettered access to fresh data led her to the decision to start her own business. Together with CTO and cofounder Nicolas Raspal, she developed the BI tool of her dreams: easy to use, affordable and scalable so even small and mid-size enterprises can harness the power of big data. Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Euromed Business School in Marseilles. She resides in Montpellier, a city recognized as a leading R&D cluster in France.
