In 2009 at the age of 21, and with a promising career as an Athlete, Durham Region’s Anthony Lue’s life was suddenly and brutally changed forever. While at work at a scrap metal yard, he was crushed inside a vehicle and hoisted 15 feet into the air by a crane operator, then dropped to the ground. Extracted from the vehicle by firefighters using the Jaws of Life, Anthony was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto where he underwent surgery to stabilize his critically injured back — an injury that left him as a T9 paraplegic. Where some might have thrown in the towel, Anthony Lue chose to take up the ultimate challenge and is currently working towards representing Canada in handcycle racing at the next Paralympic Games. Join us at Startup Grind on November 19 as Anthony Lue tells his remarkable story of overcoming adversity with incredible motivation, drive and passion.
