Marcelo Díaz Bowen is Ibtikar Fund's Senior Advisor and a member of its management team, and is a General Partner InverSur Capital, a Venture Capital firm based in Chile, that invests throughout Latin America, as well as a Manager of Amerigo Fund of Telefónica Group. Previously, Marcelo was the CEO of IncubaUC, an incubator for the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a top university in Latin America. IncubaUC invested in 129 companies over the last three years. During his tenure as CEO, IncubaUC was ranked as the top university incubator in Latin America and the sixth worldwide. Marcelo also created “El Domo,” a docu-reality TV show based on the experience of the IncubaUC startups in the Silicon Valley, and co-founded Digital Bank LatAm, the largest FinTech competition in its region. Marcelo also served as the Former President of the Board of Chileincuba, the National Association of Incubators in Chile. Marcelo is also a serial entrepreneur with over 16 years of experience building companies in multiple areas– including development and manufacturing technologies; export of Latin American goods to Europe, USA and Asia; and technology transfer of highly complex IP to multinational companies all over the world. Marcelo’s numerous companies have entered markets including as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Russia, Europe, United States and Brazil. Marcelo has an Agricultural Engineering degree from the Universidad Mayor de Chile, is a Technology Innovator Leader from Stanford University and a Launching New Ventures expert from Harvard University.
