Raise Your Game: Startup Investment Spotlight

Thursday 26th Jan, 6.00 - 8.30pm

Startup funding...there is no hiding from it, everybody has to start somewhere! For our first event of 2023 we’re shining a spotlight on startup investment, both in Scotland and current international trends, with a stellar line-up of speakers from across the business support spectrum.

So where do you start?

Whether you’re an early-stage business looking for money locally, or a scaling business looking for serious venture capital investment, raising funding is essential to cover the costs of developing, improving, and getting your products or services to market.

Scotland is blessed with an entrepreneurial ecosystem rich in support, talent, and great people, but if we’re totally honest, navigating the funding landscape can be challenging. Every business needs to understand what type of funding is most suitable for them, and to ensure you are 'pitch ready'.

We have put together a brilliant panel to demystify the investment landscape. We want you to be able to raise your game this year and make 2023 the best one yet!

Join us on the 26th of January we will be joined by Amy Burnett, David Yeary & Helena Di Biase, we'll dive into:

  • Navigating the investment landscape
  • Insights from the Venture Pulse report and what to expect from 2023
  • How to best prepare for investment

[Speaker]

Amy Burnett - Head of KPMG Enterprise Emerging Giants

Amy works with exciting scaling businesses across the UK supporting them as they rapidly grow. Sitting in KPMG’s Emerging Giants team, Amy leads the KPMG Private Enterprise Access programme that focuses on delivering support to scaling businesses via 4 main pain points – access to talent, access to finance, access to markets and, compliance and governance. In Scotland Amy delivers the annual Tech Innovator in the UK competition, showcasing the best of Scotland’s tech scene; she shares her insights on venture capital via KPMG’s quarterly Venture Pulse Report, and supports various organisations in the entrepreneurial space.

Amy previously ran business accelerator hubs in Scotland supporting hundreds of early stage start-ups, and lived and worked in the Middle East. Amy had two small children with boundless energy who keep her occupied when she’s not working!

Helena Di Biase -  CoFounder & Managing Partner at Raising Partners

Helena is co-founder and Managing Partner of Raising Partners - the Glasgow-based investment firm guiding startups through each step of their fundraising process, and Raising Partners Angels - an angel syndicate that invests in companies making a positive impact on people, processes and the planet. After experiencing first-hand the dangers of poor advice when raising capital, Helena founded Raising Partners in 2017 to level the investment playing field and demystify the fundraising process. Since inception, the firm has worked with over 175 companies and raised over £60 million in funding.

David Yeary - Scottish Development International (San Jose, CA)

David has over 30 years of experience within a variety of industries including emerging business and technologies, life science and healthcare, software, gaming, and entertainment.
