Raising a £1.2M Crowdfund & Doubling Sales/Distribution in 2020 with 7x Guinness World Record Holder Jamie Douglas-Hamilton (ACTiPH)
As we dive head first into a tsunami of Teams notifications, LinkedIn requests and 'New Year New Me' mantras, we're here to steady the ship with another action-packed Remo event.
We'll be dipping into: how to raise a £1.2M crowdfund mid-pandemic, what it takes to sustain 300% year on year growth & why pH 9+ ionised water could be your next secret to maintaining an active, balanced lifestyle.
Wether you're drinking like a fish or sticking to a dryer January, pour a glass of your favourite tipple and let's toast to a calmer, brighter 2021!
Jamie Douglas-Hamilton (ACTiPH)
Jamie Douglas-Hamilton is the founder and Director of ACTiPH, the UK’s first alkaline ionised bottled water brand. Jamie discovered the benefits of alkaline water out of necessity during a 5,000-mile row from Australia to Africa; realising that freshwater mixed with seawater was more hydrating than freshwater alone, instantly increasing power, energy levels and reducing hallucinations.
This revelation helped the team break two Guinness World Records and was the inspiration behind ACTiPH.
ACTiPH operates in the same space as Coca-Cola, Nestle and Danone; firms with between £20-100bn turn over. With water increasingly becoming commoditised, they are working hard to change perspectives and educate people about the importance of hydration.
Everything they do with ACTiPH 'communicates' and that’s why they have invested effort into making custom made moulds, custom made caps, and more recently, ensuring all of their packaging is 100% recyclable and BPA free.
[Host] Dec McLaughlin (SG Scotland/DM Nutrition/BackHug)
Dec McLaughlin is the founder of DM Nutrition, a 'nutritionist in your pocket' that helps entrepreneurs lose up to 10kg, build 3-4kg muscle and 1/2 stress levels in as little as 90-days. Dec discovered the power of science-backed nutrition micro-habits during his Medicinal Chemistry masters degree where he helped friends and relatives lose up to 20kg without hours of meal prep or exercise.
Since then, he has gone on to lead the restart of the Startup Grind Edinburgh chapter after a short period of inactivity. Speakers since 2018 include Gillian Docherty OBE (The Data Lab), Bruce Walker (FutureX) & Marta Krupinska (Head of Google for Startups UK).
His passion for wellbeing and tech has also lead him into his current role of business development & marketing at BackHug, a smart back therapy device that alleviates back aches and pains, at home. He supports the commercialisation of this innovative technology, with the ultimate goal of providing relief for bad backs, anytime, anywhere.
