The first Chicken Sandwich Restaurant in Guadalajara. Be hungry - Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Peku.
Alex and his cofounders share their experiences bringing new culture to this fantastic city all the way from California
My entrepreneurial mindsets started when I was about ten years old and watched my father start his own business. At this age I began to work with him and found any way I could to improve his business. I was able to contribute much more once I began studying at UCLA, where I studied Political Science, Psychology, and Entrepreneurship. Business became addicting to me as I looked for as many opportunities as possible to apply what I've learned. I managed over 1 million dollars in revenue as president of my fraternity, and became involved in various startups.
My desire to open a restaurant started during my last quarter at UCLA while I was interning at a restaurant. I felt that I was capable of opening a successful restaurant and I went to visit Guadalajara to learn how to cook from my grandma. Coming here opened my eyes to a new opportunity. I saw the lack of a quality chicken sandwich in Guadalajara, and I was determined to change that. Going back to Los Angeles I teamed up with my two business partners, Gerardo Lopez Serrano and Marcelo Gonzalez. We came to Guadalajara to open the first high quality chicken sandwich chain. Our entire process involves hand crafting our products in order to give the customer the best product possible.
My manner of thinking, being, and behaving came from observing my father’s actions. I watched my father work 80 hour weeks just so that he could give us the life that he knew we deserved. When I growing up, I would hope that my dad would share his last shreds of energy after working a long day to kick the soccer ball around with me. Most kids growing up wanted to be astronauts or firefighters and since my dad is and was my hero, I wanted to be just like him. Seeing my father work so hard all throughout my life is what motivated me to start my own business at such a young age. I believe that the fruits of my labor now will allow me to live a happy and prosperous life so that in the future my kids will be able to have the same life that my father has worked so hard to provide me. I believe that there are two options in life, you either work hard toward achieving your dream or you work hard so that some else can achieve theirs.
