The startup ecosystem came into existence because of its ability to disrupt citizen problems using technology. And it is a no-brainer that technology has been the cornerstone of an economy’s progress and development. Though Rajasthan has attained the ‘Top Performer’ rank in the 2018 State Startup Ranking, it still has to go a long way in developing deep-tech solutions to solve some of the pressing state problems.

Jaipur, the state’s capital city, was recently ranked at number 3 by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in terms of most cyber crimes after Bengaluru and Mumbai. The state’s education system is among the best in the country, yet it fails to churn out tech talent that can be absorbed by startups and emerging businesses. Medical epidemics, poor waste collection and management, poor digital literacy, dismal corruption statistics, and above all - holding the dubious record of 2nd highest internet shutdowns in recent times.

Do all these look like challenges or opportunities? Can we learn from other cities across the globe on how they adopted technology to solve these issues? More importantly, how are startups latching onto these opportunities? Is the Rajasthan startup ecosystem prepared to convert these problems into business solutions using technology? What could startups do to ensure that technology adoption is not hampered by language barriers? With this focused agenda in mind, we are proud to host Technology Adoption - By Startups, For Rajasthan, a focused session with Dr. Ajay Data, Rajasthan’s famous technology entrepreneur, angel investor and past president of TiE Rajasthan. He is also the current Chairman of the prestigious Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG), which is supported by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
