Anish Shivdasani is CEO and co-founder of Giraffe, a fully automated mobile recruitment app that gives medium-skilled jobseekers access to opportunities for free. Giraffe also helps businesses recruit medium-skilled workers faster and cheaper by automatically matching jobseekers with employers. Giraffe won the Seedstars World award for Best Global Startup 2016, representing South Africa to beat over 3,000 startups from 55 emerging markets. Giraffe is also one of the few South African startups to have received Silicon Valley funding in the past year, raising a round of investment led by eBay founder and billionaire Pierre Omidyar’s VC fund, Omidyar Network. Prior to Giraffe, Anish was a Principal at Delta Partners a strategic advisory and investment firm specialising in the telecoms, media and digital industries in developing markets. Anish was an academic researcher in the field of stem cell genetics. He has a PhD in Genetics from the UK Medical Research Council and an MA in Natural Science from the University of Cambridge.
