The man who introduced artisan coffee drinking culture to Johor Bahru and someone who raises funds to kickstart tech startups as well as helping retail merchants improve customer loyalty. David Lim, the CEO of KIODA, a fast retail chain will be joining us at this month's Startup Grind Johor. From F & B tech startups to now running one of the fastest growing retail businesses, we are going to roast and grind David for a solid hour to learn more from his experiences, success and failures as well as the lessons he overcame on his entrepreneurial journey.
KIODA is the first Korean concept store in Malaysia with an ever growing retail network of more than 30 outlets in Malaysia and in 7 countries. KIODA comes ready with its own Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) partners in China, and direct purchasing supplier in South Korea and over the next 3 years, KIODA is planning to open 200-300 concept stores in India, starting with the mega cities including Mumbai, Chennai and New Delhi.

David Lim is a former founder of Just Want Coffee, The Factory 30. Just Want Coffee (JWC) The Factory 30 is a coffee shop nested in a factory yard. It builded its visibility in short time and being as a successful cafe among competitors. In JB city, JWC has 6 different themed branches which founded by David and Nelson.
Furthermore, he is also the founder of restaurant The Little Island. The nostalgic and comforting flavours of Penang cuisine to Taman Molek since March 2014. Their chefs working hard to ensure that the food is meticulously prepared using traditional cooking methods to preserve the rich Penang food culture and heritage. The Little Island‘s internal design evokes the old nostalgic Penang with the “kopitiam” ambience.
One day, David decided to develop GaGa rewards system with his friend in iTree Technology. iTree Technology helps traditional business create a new marketing model and business model with internet. It now has a worldwide audience for its goods and services.
GaGa is one of the achievement of iTree Technology. It is the trump card which replace the traditional types of reward, such as coupons, membership, and discount. Whenever and wherever new purchase is made, rewards will be automatically be recorded in GaGa. They had already expanded the market in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Being a multinational team of elites, they are looking forward to expanding their business into the fastest growing markets in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China as well.
