We are launching Startup Grind in Herat city on 14 July 2019. We are excited that we host an influential women social entrepreneur Ms. Maria Bashir in our very first event in Herat. Ms. Maria Bashir is the founder of the Afghan Women Unity Organization based in Herat - Afghanistan. Maria Bashir is known for the first Chief Prosecutor General at the provincial level in Afghanistan is graduated from faculty of Law and Political Science of Kabul University.

Ms. Maria Bashir is a social entrepreneur, social activist and women rights defender who is recognized for her outstanding achievement by credible national and international entities. Ms. Nasir has received the Women of Courage Award in 2011 from the State Department of the United State of America, she is named in the 100 most influential people in the world list composed by the Time Magazine and Awarded the honor of observing human rights from Sassari University of Italy.

For social and economic contribution through her talent, intellectuals and merit; Ms. Maria Nasir has received Jewels of the Muslim World’s Award from Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the sixth Muslim World Biz in 2015 in Malaysia.

Ms. Maria Bashir founded the Afghan Women Unity Organization in 2016 with the main focus on the women empowerment, create jobs and livelihood for women, reducing violence against women and advocacy for women rights.
