Startup Grind Lahore is arranging a Pitch Battle Local, a gateway for local startups to participate in Startup Grind's Global Pitch Competition, the winners of which will get many exciting prizes.
Who: Startup's, Early-stage, and high growth company's, founders, co-founders, team members & startup enthusiasts
Where: From your couch, deck, the comfort of your own home!
When: Thursday, September 3rd,2020 at 7 pm
Startups: We select 10 startups, emerging, and high growth companies, founders, and management teams to the virtual stage for a 3-minute pitch opportunity followed by 3 minutes of Q&A from the judges and the audience. There will be investors, so be prepared to answer questions!
Process: Any startup, early-stage, and high growth company interested in pitching MUST APPLY and submit an application package by Friday, August 28th at 6 pm.

The application package includes our on-line application form, submission of your executive summary and pitch deck, plus a 1-minute elevator pitch video that has been posted to YouTube.
Applications and submission packages are due by Friday, August 28th at 6 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The top 3 local winners will receive:
1st place - 1 year of free startup program membership
2nd place - 6 months of free startup program membership
3rd place - 3 months of free startup program membership
We encourage each member to invite family, friends, and well-wishers to virtually attend to support the local community. Female founders are highly encouraged.
In the first round, judges will shortlist the startups and we will inform the selected startups to prepare their presentations for the second round by 6 pm; September 1, 2020
Then on September 3, 2020, we will hold a virtual Pitch Contest where you can showcase your startup.

Faisal is currently the Managing Partner & Executive Director of Lakson Venture Capital (Lakson VC), a Pre-Series A Institutional VC Fund backed by the Lakson Group and other leading local business families. Lakson VC is focused on Pakistan based opportunities where technology can be leveraged to enable, enhance and disrupt existing business models or create new ones.
With an MBA degree from Oxford University, joint Bachelorâ€™s and Masterâ€™s degrees from Michigan State University USA, and close to two decades of experience as an investor, entrepreneur and executive in diversified industries, Faisal Aftab is a veteran in his field. He has been employed by, or acted as an advisor to several public and private sector corporations as well as the Government of Pakistan.
Prior to leading Lakson VC, Faisal held the roles of Executive Vice President at Intel Capital backed CloudStream, a Silicon Valley-based technology company; Executive Director for MTV Networks International at their Pakistan franchise; Vice President of the New York-based financial services and wealth management firm, National Financial Partners; and a Management Consultant at Deloitte, where he advised a portfolio of asset management, broker dealer and investment banking clients.
Faisal is also a limited partner of the Silicon Valley-based Venture Capital Fund 500 Startups; and Board Member of Bookme.pk, Bagallery.pk, Rooomy.pk, KnowledgePlatform.com and MandiExpress.pk.
Inaara Impact Ventures was incorporated in Dec 2016 as a platform for funding, product prototyping and impact assessment of the social business sector across Pakistan. We are primarily focused on start-ups working out of Tier 1 & 2 cities within the domain of UNO’s sustainable development goals [Zero Poverty, Gender Equality, Industry Innovation and Clean Energy]
Our current portfolio includes Freightix Technologies [Lahore based] and Tecbeck Pvt Ltd.[Faisalabad Based]. Freightix is a start-up operating within the mobility and freight business sector and currently working as a partner of Daewoo Corporation. TecBeck Private Limited is a software development firm which works closely with disadvantaged youth, particularly women and train them to make a decent living.
Inaara Impact Ventures is founded by Sadia Malik, a business analyst and project management professional with 14+ years of experience in driving digital projects from initiation to closure. She has worked with various Digital media houses in Australia and Pakistan and her latest role was as Head of QA Services for Kualitatem Inc. She currently juggles her roles as an investment advisor for Inaara Ventures and as the Director of Business Optimisation for an Infrastructure Development Firm based in Lahore.
Omar Parvez Khan is experienced Auditor with 4 years of Big 4 experience. Well-versed in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Developed a deep understanding of big business in Energy, Oil & Gas, Telco, Health and Finance while engaging in internal and external audits of multinationals in these sectors.
A homegrown product of Pakistan's startup and VC ecosystem. Having worked with over 50 founders as a fundraising consultant, joined one of the first SECP licensed VCs in Pakistan as part of the founding team, before making the switch to a partner position at High Output Ventures.
Expertise include financial modelling, projections, company valuations, market analysis, and Subway sandwich designing!
Mr. Salman Amin carry a rich and extensive experience in strategic and operational leadership role in both private and public sectors. The diversity and depth of his experience in multiple and complex industries within and outside Pakistan span over twenty one years. Throughout his career he’s lead teams managing projects in the field of Financial Services, ICT & Telecom, Management Consulting and ICT4D. His core domains are project management, teams and system development, creativity & innovation and business development.
Being a part of e-governance team, Salman successfully managed & delivered Punjab Public Management Reform Program (PPMRP). A World Bank funded ($50 mil) five year program that covered technological interventions in GoPb for Resource Monitoring, Improved Service Delivery & G2C Communication. Key departments including Health, Education, Irrigation, Agriculture, Livestock were part of program. PPMRP was hailed as a one of fifteen global success stories by World Bank in a report published in October 2018 for its interventions and impact across Punjab. He has also led teams managing major government initiatives on Clean Drinking Water, Sanitation and G2C communication.
He’s currently managing a portfolio of Local Government & Community Development, Livestock & Dairy Development, Irrigation, Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology, Tourism, Business Development & Partnerships, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development. Program in his portfolio including e-Rozgaar, Plan9 have been approved federal government for national rollout.

Iftikhar Hussain is an ecosystem builder, consultant, and entrepreneur. He has closely worked with private and public institutions promoting the use of social media to further causes like entrepreneurship, gender rights, women's economic empowerment, and violence against women.
He was the Founder/ VP Business & Strategy at TEC, which is a leading conference management firm in Pakistan, launched DIGIMARK, Pakistan's most premium conference on Digital, and founder of DIGITALK, a monthly digital forum to strengthen the digital ecosystem in Pakistan.
Iftikhar holds a graduate degree in Computer Sciences from University of Central Punjab. He is an IVLP (International Visitor Leadership Program) Alumnus, which is US Department of State’s premier professional exchange program on the theme Social Media Activism. Mr. Hussain is a certified trainer as well as a facilitator from British Council. His signature program "Turning Contacts into References” is one of the most vibrant sessions in universities and incubators throughout the country.
He is the founder of Transforming Hub aiming to bridge the industry-academia gap in a unique way through industry problems paving the way for entrepreneurship. Iftikhar has 14 years of work experience and worked with Ufone, UBL, CodeWeek Magazine, Punjab Commission on the Status of Women, Women Development Department & Niu Media Productions.
Mahrukh Qadeer is the founder and CEO of communal workspace, Co-Wired. Qadeer started her multifaceted professional career after receiving an M.S. in Computer Science. Having 12+ years of experience working for several multi-national organizations and social gaming giants like DeNA, she developed expertise in designing mobile applications and app monetization frameworks for smart devices. Qadeer is also a visiting faculty member of a national university. She works as a consultant to a number of organizations as well as engages in a myriad of public speaking opportunities including Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016, Berlin where she was invited as a speaker and also moderated a panel discussion.
Previously, she has served as CEO at Mahir Online that connects people with local eateries. This versatile experience led her to start Co-Wired in April, 2017. The ideology of Co-Wired lies in its slogan – Create, Communicate, Collaborate. She laid down the foundation of Co-Wired on philosophy of supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem by conducting training programs and connecting its members to resources, support networks, and mentors. This co-working space acts as starting point for entrepreneurs to lay the first brick of their idea. Currently, a number of startups, multinational offshore companies and other corporates are also utilizing Co-Wired as a workspace along with other small-scale businesses. The flexible packages complemented by state-of-the-art working facilities cater to all types of requirements. For example, Mompreneur package is designed specifically for working mothers of school going kids, looking to work in dynamic environment to maintain discipline in their workflow.
Co-Wired also led into unprecedented collaborations of businesses leading to better work opportunities. Several focused workshops and vocational trainings are conducted on topics like Growth Hacking, Website development, Videography, Design Thinking and Social Media Marketing Certification. Hosting entrepreneurship-related discussion sessions is also a regular practice at Co-Wired where various professions like healthcare, finance, music and media are discussed in the context of technology and consumer behavior.
She is a Facilitator for British Council's DICE Fellowship Program. DICE is a pilot program that takes a holistic approach to address entrenched issues of economic and social exclusion. DICE takes an 'ecosystem' approach to nurture economic inclusion, with a focus on women and girls, young people, disabled people and other often excluded groups. DICE is delivered by an interdisciplinary and inspired group of colleagues and change-makers in Pakistan, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, South Africa and UK.
