Ha sido reconocida por el MIT entre los 5 Jóvenes Innovadores Menores de 35 años en Perú 2015; Culqi ha recibido financiamiento de Wayra, Startup Perú, Kickstart Peru y ha sido finalista del BBVA Open Talent 2015.

Culqi nace como un proyecto de tesis junto a su socio Nicolás Di Pace, quienes al querer aceptar pagos con tarjeta, se encontraron con el verdadero dolor del comercio electrónico.
