Startup Grind Limerick is proud to welcome Peter Coppinger, CEO of Teamwork and EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018. At a young age, both Peter Coppinger and Daniel Mackey developed an interest in computer programming. Peter, at just 10 years old, began selling games he had created, while Daniel developed the same interest from the moment he got his first computer in the early 1990s. An accidental meeting led the pair to establish a web development business but keeping track of all the accounts, payments, progress and what the team was doing proved difficult. That led them to establish Teamwork. com, a software as a service (SaaS) provider, which creates business management applications to make teams around the world more efficient and organised. From humble beginnings, the company now has 22,000 paying customers including some of the world’s biggest, such as Disney, PayPal, Spotify and Yves Saint Laurent. Employing 200 people with remote workers in 15 countries, Teamwork is bursting and last year moved to a state of the art campus called Teamwork Campus 1 in Blackpool on Cork City's north side. The company aims to maintain the 40 per cent growth it has been achieving over the last few years in the future.
Join Peter Coppinger as he is interviewed by Startup Grind Limerick's own Peter (Hunt) as we take a look inside one of Cork and Ireland's biggest success stories of the last decade. The Teamwork CEO will chat about the importance of culture, giving back to the community and why breaking the Irish record for a domain name purchase was the best decision he ever made.
Join us at 6pm in Bank of Ireland workbench on the 21st of March.
Register above.
Some background to Teamwork.com
Frustrated by whiteboards and software management tools in the mid 2000s, Coppinger wanted a software system that would help manage client projects but which had to be extremely easy-to-use and generic so it could be used by all sorts of companies. Together with co-founder Daniel Mackay, Coppinger founded Teamwork.com in 2007 and since its early inception, Teamwork.com was about "building great products using great technology". To do this, Teamwork has really focused on developing and retaining great talent. Transparency, removing hierarchy and focusing on core values are all key tenants of Teamwork's cultural manifesto and something that has made Teamwork, not just a great commercial success but also a great place to work.
