EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017, Chris Hulatt founded Octopus Group in 2000. With more than 700 employees and £8 billion under management they focus on fund management and energy supply. Their VC arm backed companies like Graze, Secret Escapes, SwiftKey or Zoopla Property Group.
The Octopus fund management division has total FUM of about £8bn, and is a leading investor focused on renewable energy, healthcare infrastructure and smaller companies. Octopus Energy, which was launched two years ago, is a challenger energy supplier providing customers with long-term fair pricing and digital customer service. It has already grown to more than 250,000 customers and is the only energy supplier recommended by Which magazine, It was also selected as the USwitch energy supplier of the year.
Before starting Octopus, Chris led one of the Global Equity sector research teams at Mercury Asset Management. Chris has a first class MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
