After almost four years as Manager of the PwC Strategy Group, he embarks with one of his colleagues, Íñigo Juantegui, on the adventure of creating the leading web site for the Spanish food-delivery market. Thus was La Nevera Roja born, a food marketplace that after four years operating, allows the platform users to order online (through computer or mobile devices) food from approximately 6.000 restaurants and catering establishments that offer food delivery services The story of La Nevera Roja is one of entrepreneurial success, marked by the effort in a difficult competitive environment where traditional restaurants have a great weight, and the choice to invest in the digital world, TV advertising and the smartphone revolution. Nowadays, the web site is the Spanish leader, having achieved last year 600.000 users and half a million App downloads, plus reaching 50 million Euros of annual turnout generated for the restaurants of the platform (more than half of its sales through mobile devices). In January 2015, Rocket Internet Acquires La Nevera Roja. After three months helping with the corporate transition, José del Barrio leaves the company to set up Samaipata Ventures, a venture capital specialized in eCommerce and online marketplace with the vocation of strengthening the VC-Entrepreneur collaboration, that aspires to become the Spanish referent in the sector. On a personal level, he has just become a father for the first time.
