Every year Startup Grind hosts SG Women’s Month, proudly recognizing the accomplishments of female leaders around the world. Throughout the month of May, we’re hosting local and global events with the goal of bringing together female entrepreneurs and investors who are leading, shaping, and funding the future – female first.
Meet our speaker:
Amy is a communications professional with 25 years of marketing-communications, content creation, public relations, and media relations experience spanning numerous industries including technology, media, healthcare, and sports. She currently leads global communications for Oracle for Startups, Oracle’s global program to support startups and innovators, where she oversees strategic communications, content creation, thought leadership, analyst relations, and public relations.
She joined Oracle in May of 2012, as part of an acquisition of technology startup Vitrue. Prior to Oracle, she was a long-time communications consultant, working with numerous media and technology clients. Sorrells also served in communications roles with Fox Cable Networks, CNN, and Turner Sports. Amy received her degree from Auburn University. She resides in Atlanta with her husband and two boys.

Senior Director, Global Communications
Amy Sorrells is a communications and marketing professional with more than 20 years of marketing-communications, content creation, public relations and media relations experience spanning numerous industries including technology, media, healthcare and sports. In her current role, she leads global communications for Oracle’s startup and entrepreneur program, overseeing strategic communications, thought leadership, analyst relations, public relations, and content creation.
She joined Oracle in May of 2012, working first on the Oracle Social Cloud team. Prior to Oracle, she was a communications consultant for eight years, working with numerous media and technology clients. Sorrells also served as a communications professional for Fox Cable Networks, CNN and Turner Sports.
Amy received her degree from Auburn University. She resides in Atlanta with her husband and two boys.
Mo is holding a BA in Business Technology and Diplomas in E-Business, Digital Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. Mohamed has 5+ years of experience in the Digital Industry in Jordan and Egypt in addition to 8+ years of involvement in the Entrepreneurship ecosystem across the MENA region with Startup Grind, TechStars, Seedstars, and many local and international entities.
He has been recognized as a speaker at several events including Startup Grind Pakistan, RiseUp Summit, Startups Without Borders Summit, Digital Arabia Network, and Adobe World Tour. Mo has also been featured on various media channels like; Bloomberg, BBC World, BBC Arabic, Al Jazeera, Sky News, MBC, AJ+, Al Ghad TV, Roya TV, ONTV, BBC Radio, National Newspaper, and Inc. Magazine.
