Kat Gordon is the owner and proprietor of Muddy’s Bake Shop right here in Memphis, TN. She is a pretty decent baker, blogs inconsistently, washes dishes like a pro, and writes pretty thank you notes. What she’s really good at is hiring smart, fun, amazing people and then letting them be awesome, so things tend to work out all right. She learned fearlessness in the kitchen from both parents who encouraged and celebrated their children’s culinary contributions, both successful and disastrous. Kat also baked a lot in college to relax and as a cure for insomnia, or rather, something to do while not sleeping, and her neighbors would often find plates of cookies outside their doors. In 2007, with the encouragement and moral support of loads of family and friends, she decided to take a giant leap of faith and embark on the grand adventure of small business. She opened the doors to Muddy’s on leap day of 2008. Kat spends her time in the following ways: working on or at Muddy’s, chilling out max and relaxing all cool with Thomas and their two dogs, eating cookies, starting craft projects (but not finishing them), eating slices of pie, reading voraciously, and giving herself pep talks about time management and life balance, which she rarely listens to. She was born in a hospital like most people and has titanium bone supplements unlike most people. She pretty much thinks life is amazing and awesome and it is even better with good company and pie.
