Megan is an extraordinary entrepreneur and a real struggle to success story. Megan started her company, Moment AI, using poker winnings to create a solution to a problem afflicting more than 3 million people in the United States, Epilepsy. Megan was motivated to develop an AI software solution that uses facial recognition to monitor driver safety because of her epilepsy. Her goal was to be allowed to drive herself to work.
Already working with electronics and software, Megan, now 30 and a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Cordova High School in Memphis, was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 23. “The doctor told me I couldn’t drive,” she said. “I’d gone through multiple sleep studies and tests on my brain. They didn’t approve me to drive. So, for the last six years, I’ve been developing the technology to allow me to drive.”
For those who live in a dense urban environment or who can jump in a car and go where they wish, the impact on Gray and others with driving restrictions may not be clearly understood. “I’d have to depend on my family. That was a struggle,” she said. “That limited me to where I could get a job.”
She hired Uber and Lyft drivers, but the expense became impractical. She had to turn down at least one job because she didn’t have an affordable, reliable way to get to it.
Megan holds a BS in IT Project Management from the University of Kentucky, Before reaching college, Megan had finished all college-level science classes that could be taken by time she was 15 including Chemistry(perfect score) and advanced Physics. As a student leader at the University of Kentucky, Megan set out to begin a career focusing on innovation. She worked as a Product Manager to Google and interned for other companies with a focus on IT and technology.
Megan is now focused on growing Moment AI and continuing to develop products and services for autonomous vehicles. In addition to her work with innovation and technology, Megan is a highly sought after speaker having addressed audiences at the GPU Technology NVIDIA, Oracle, and Verizon 5G AI Developer conferences.
