Startup Grind Muscat is thrilled to be hosting a fireside chat with Karim Konsowa, VC Investor at the Dubai Future District Fund and former founder of three venture-backed startups. Karim will join us to share his wealth of insight into the world of Venture Capital and fundraising. Prior to joining the Dubai Future District Fund - which is a venture capital fund of funds and direct investment vehicle backed by the Dubai Future Foundation and Dubai International Financial Centre - Karim managed the portfolios of two funds for 500 Global with a combined $100M in AUM and 220 companies in his portfolio. He also sat on the investment committee of the Sanabil 500 MENA Accelerator fund, where he helped select over 40 seed startups for investment across the MENA region. Karim's entry into venture capital came in 2019 when he joined Flat6Labs, a leading VC firm and accelerator in the Middle East. There, he worked on fundraising for various Flat6Labs funds across the region and managed a portfolio of 64 companies. He helped raise $80M in Flat6Labs funds and launch offices in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi. Karim founded and led three venture-backed startups since 2013. After completing his compulsory military service in 2018, Karim worked in public sector consulting in Egypt, delivering several public sector projects with the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Social Solidarity. Karim graduated with honors from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2016. Mo Salah, Startup Grind Oman’s Country Manager, will moderate the fireside chat. Mo has more than a decade of involvement in the Entrepreneurship ecosystem with Brinc, Startup Grind, and Seedstars across MENA, Africa, and the US.
