Duncan Goldie Scot is an entreprenuer and investor with a focus on social enterprises in Africa.

He pioneered the use of mobile payments in microfinance institutions (MFIs) in East Africa by providing technical assistance and capacity building to MFIs in Kenya and Tanzania. He co-founded and is now a director of Musoni BV, an MFI holding company in The Netherlands and is Chairman of Musoni Kenya Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya.

This event will open up conversations around seeking and approaching investors for your startup, investor opportunities available in the startup ecosystem in Africa and the growth and international Trade.

With his vast experience in investing in and around Fintech in Africa, Duncan will explore and share knowledge what gives and what doesn’t.

Duncan Goldie-Scot is an entrepreneur and investor with a focus on social enterprises in Africa. He pioneered the use of mobile payments in microfinance institutions (MFIs) in East Africa by providing technical assistance and capacity building to MFIs in Kenya and Tanzania. He co-founded and is now a director of Musoni BV, an MFI holding company in The Netherlands and is Chairman of Musoni Kenya Ltd in Nairobi, Kenya.

He has co-founded and is a director of Access Afya, a chain of low-cost, high-tech health clinics; BitPesa.co, a payment gateway into Africa spanning many countries; First Access, the use of big data to create credit profiles for the informal sectors; Frontier Health, a platform for selling frugal medical devices; Smoogs, a micropayment service for streaming online content.

He is an investor in Atikus, Eneza Education, FarmDrive.co.ke, Mission Markets, Musoni Services, Sendy, and Tujijenge.

Before starting Musoni, Duncan founded and ran his own financial technology publishing company. He was also Founding Chairman of the UK’s Electronic Money Association and a director of the International Financial Cryptography Association.
