Born and raised in England, Russell has passion for products and engineering. He left England at the age of 24 to begin an engineering career in Montreal, Canada. Russell has a long history of guiding the development of leading edge products - all won awards and subsequently became commercial successes in their particular markets. He held executive positions in Research and Development at Newbridge Networks, Alcatel Networks, and Klocwork and served as CEO of Rove Mobile and Blacksumac Inc. Most recently Russell was Executive Vice President of Retail Products for iControl Networks. Throughout his varied career, Russell led a CAE Electronics team to develop a virtual battlefield simulation for the US Army’s Research Institute; managed the development of IBM's Visual Age for Basic product; and, led the development of a market-leading Secure Private Networking product at TimeStep, a data communications company, that was eventually acquired and integrated within Alcatel's networking portfolio. As CEO of Rove Mobile, Russell established the company as a global leader of innovative mobile IT solutions. In April 2012 Rove was sold to Texas based Solarwinds (a publicly traded company) for many multiples of its’ annual revenue. Later in 2012, Russell co-founded Blacksumac Inc. and with his team created Piper, the world’s first all one security/home automation product. Just 19 months later, Blacksumac was acquired by Silicon Valley based company, iControl Netwrorks. Currently Russell is an advisor with iControl and is contemplating his next venture.
