Garrett Melby is co-founder and Executive Director of GoodCompany Ventures, an accelerator for social entrepreneurs. GCV’s graduates have mobilized over $50mm in private capital and its proprietary curriculum provides the operating system for FastFWD, an acclerator addressing public safety issues funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Climate Ventures 2.0, an accelerator addressing climate threats developed in collaboration with the White House Climate Data Initiative.
Garrett is also a Director of Generocity.org, and a founding member of Investors’ Circle’s first regional chapter. He has served on the investment/selection committees for Investors’ Circle, the Wharton Social Venture Fund, Wells Fargo Fellowship, William James Foundation and Defy Ventures and as a speaker at national social enterprise and impact investing events, including the SOCAP, Sustainatopia, the World Innovation Summit, Goldman Sachs 10KSB, Social Venture Institute, NPR, Investors' Circle, Business 2.0 Summit, Wharton Private Equity Conference and MIT Climate Colab.
Previously, Garrett was a VC with Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., a $12 billion NYSE listed technology incubator. He began his impact investment career as an emerging market finance attorney in the New York, London and Washington offices of Skadden Arps. Garrett holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from Boston University.
