About this event

What does innovation in education look like? Our next speaker believes preparing our youth for success in life is not only a moral obligation but also the key to the health of our economy. Join us virtually to hear how Kenneth Mims, Founder & CEO of Science Prep Academy, an innovative STEM College & Career Prep school for Neurodiverse students with Autism in Phoenix, is promoting science education and equal access to high-quality education for all students.

Mims specializes in STEM educational solutions for students and obtained a BS in physics from Hampton University and completed his Master’s degree in Science Education at Georgia State University. Elected to the Winslow Township (NJ) school board at 24, Mr. Mims transitioned into education policy and governance. Mr. Mims is an ASU American Express Leadership Academy Alumni, Marshall Memorial Fellow, and New Leaders Council Alumni.  In 2019, Mims was an Albert Einstein Fellow, funded by the Department of Energy, as a legislative fellow to work on Capitol Hill in the office of Congressman Ruben Gallego.

Currently, Mims sits on the Arizona Department of Education’s African American Advisory Council appointed by the State Secretary of Education. He was appointed by the mayor of Phoenix to sit on the Phoenix Youth and Education Commission and is an Associate Board Member for Teach For America Phoenix.

We look forward to catching up with this education innovator and self-professed "cryptocurrency/blockchain geek". Registration is complimentary!
