Prior to Evolution, Karel was CTO, Chief Scientist and interim CEO of AVG Technologies (NYSE:AVG) where he was the architect of the technology platform that today has approximately 400 million users.
Karel is a Partner at Evolution Equity Partners. He leads investments in cybersecurity, enterprise software and data analytics and brings over two decades of investment, operational and entrepreneurial experience to his role. Karel is a member of the firm’s investment committee.
Prior to Evolution, Karel was CTO, Chief Scientist and interim CEO of AVG Technologies (NYSE:AVG) where he was the architect of the technology platform that today has approximately 400 million users. He led the company’s technology development taking it from a single product company to multi-product platform and to becoming a global leader. Karel is considered to be a leading technologist in the cybersecurity space and was a Director of the Antimalware Testing Standards Organization, a non-profit consortium of security vendors having the aim to improve quality of tests, provide recommendations, best practices and guidelines for good and relevant antimalware testing.
Karel holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Computer Science from the Brno University of Technology. He was awarded a Kauffman Fellowship by the Palo Alto based Society of Kauffman Fellows.
