Harald Swinkels (41) is co-founder and CEO of ‘De Nederlandse Energie Maatschappij’ (“NLE”), which is literally translated ‘The Dutch Energy Company’. After entrepreneurial adventures in dotcom and IT, he co-founded NLE in 2005, one year after the Dutch energy market had been liberalized. NLE has grown to be the largest independent energy company in the Dutch retail market.

Harald Swinkels (41) is co-founder and CEO of ‘De Nederlandse Energie Maatschappij’ (“NLE”), which is literally translated ‘The Dutch Energy Company’. After entrepreneurial adventures in dotcom and IT, he co-founded NLE in 2005, one year after the Dutch energy market had been liberalized. NLE has grown to be the largest independent energy company in the Dutch retail market. Since 2016, the company is successfully challenging the telecoms market as well. NLE is simultaneously developing innovative products and services like smart thermostats and apps, data services, solar products and electric mobility concepts.
Apart from being CEO of NLE, Harald Swinkels is vice-chairman of Energie-Nederland, the energy industry body in the Netherlands, co-founder and board member of an e-commerce start-up, growth ambassador of the ‘nlgroeit’-foundation and writer/director in a film production entity. Harald Swinkels studied econometrics and business economics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. Swinkels is married and has three daughters.
