Kris is a serial entrepreneur and avid surfer who strives to improve people’s everyday lives and make the world a better place. After studying Economics at Vanderbilt University, Kris started his career in product development at Active Network in Denver, CO and later moved to New York City where he honed his problem solving skills designing software solutions for global investment banks. In 2006 Kris left the world of finance to become an entrepreneur and relocated to San Diego where he could enjoy easier access to more consistent surf. He made his entrepreneurial debut with the launch of SurfExplorer, an app that helps surfers answer the question, “Where should we surf right now?” SurfExplorer shows Kris’ ability to craft simple solutions to complex problems. In 2011 he launched LuckyBolt, a food service startup that rethinks food distribution, making it easy and affordable for busy people to maintain healthier diets and support sustainable agriculture. He also serves on the board of Slow Money, a nonprofit that promotes sustainable food systems. Kris’ advice to aspiring entrepreneurs: work on something that you know and love, which in his case means surfing and eating.
