Juan Carlos Suárez is an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico in 2003 and obtained his CPA license in the same year. From 2003 to 2008, Juan Carlos worked in the audit division of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was responsible for all phases of the financial audit and reporting of various clients in the consumer & industrial products sector.
He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico in 2010 and began working as a tax attorney in one of the major law firms in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As an attorney, Juan Carlos represented corporate clients in aspects related to income, property, excise, municipal and sales and use taxes, as well as general tax compliance issues and tax incentives. He also provided assistance to entities establishing operations in Puerto Rico.
In January 2013, Juan Carlos joined the Department of Economic Development and Commerce where he advises the Secretary on matters related to tax incentives laws and is responsible for the promotion and implementation of several economic development initiatives of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He is also the Executive Director of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Regional Center under the EB-5 Investors Visa Program.
