Alex Kim is currently a co-founder and managing partner at Cognitive Investment, a recently found investing company focused on nurturing startups from early stages to growth captital stages.
Prior to Cognitive Investment, Alex was a director at SoftBank Ventures Korea from 2012 to February 2016, which mainly focuses on investments in Asia including Korea. Alex managed and participated in board meetings of portfolio companies in China and Korea, mainly discussing managerial issues, developing post-investment value add strategies, and establishing exit strategies.
He has also worked as an executive director at Goldman Sachs, where he managed proprietary portfolio in Korea market with stock, derivatives, and equity long/short. And he began his financial career with IPO and M&A in Shinhan Investment.
Alex started his career as a Co-founder of Softweb international Inc., an incorporation of startup company for software development.
Alex holds an MBA in Concentrations in Finance from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science in Electric Engineering at Yonsei University.
