Why and how to startup with Marco Trombetti: computer scientist, entrepreneur and investor.

About this event

Marco Trombetti is a computer scientist, entrepreneur and investor. In 1999, together with my wife, Isabelle Andrieu, he co-founded Translated, a translation service that pioneered the use of artificial intelligence to help professional translators. Today, Translated is one of the most successful online translation companies in the world.

In 2007, he co-founded Memopal, a cloud storage company, with Gianluca Granero.

With the profits from these ventures, Isabelle, Gianluca and I co-founded Pi Campus, a fund to help young entrepreneurs around the world to start up great companies.

"I have been working with companies in Silicon Valley for almost a decade. I have always admired their work culture and talent-centric work environment. The only thing I don’t like is that after work, you have few opportunities to enjoy life.

In the short term, this approach offers companies great advantages, since they are able to keep people working more and more; but in the long term, people are exposed to less diverse and enriching experiences.

These experiences could stimulate their creativity and allow them to become better people and consequently, better workers. That’s why we decided to combine the Silicon Valley work culture with La Dolce Vita.

We won’t be able to change the world again if we don’t bring quality and arts into technology."
