Alen is the co-founder and leads the technology team at Space Monkey. He has been recognized for his contributions to IEEE’s Security & Privacy Magazine as well as O’Reilly’s Security and Usability.

About this event

Alen is the co-founder and leads the technology team at Space Monkey. He began his career with a brief stint in the financial industry before assuming a staff position at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory. At MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory, Alen focused on research in mobile ad hoc networking environments and wrote network emulation software that is still in use at the lab. After leaving MIT, he authored the open-source project, “flud backup” which was an experimental peer-to-peer backup system. In 2004, Alen became a software engineer at Novell where he helped design migration tools for customers moving from NetWare to Linux. Most recently, Alen served as a senior software engineer at Mozy, where he was created the horizontally scalable backend distribution system. Alen has been recognized for his contributions to IEEE’s Security & Privacy Magazine as well as O’Reilly’s Security and Usability. He received a master’s degree in computer science from Brigham Young University currently lives in Provo, UT.
