Nick Lavezzo is cofounder and COO of
FoundationDB, which is an industrial strength NoSQL database with a data model similar to Google’s Spanner and F1 projects (which run AdWords).
FoundationDB is the only DC startup that is angel funded by the famous
Ron Conway’s SV Angel fund.
FoundationDB also raised $5.5MM seed from
Michael Walrath (founder of Right Media), and
Howard Lerman (CEO of Yext), and their most recent
$17MM Series A from west-coast firm Sutter Hill Ventures with additional investment from CrunchFund (which is owned by TechCrunch founder
Michael Arrington).
Prior to FoundationDB, Nick and his cofounders built another successful startup in the DC area, Visual Sciences, which after a series of acquisitions was ultimately sold to
Omniture for $394MM then to Adobe (where they are still selling their product today)
