Fred Schaufeld is the Managing Director of SWaN & Legend Venture Partners which have invested close to $300M into startups including Optoro, CustomInk, Framebridge, Cava Grill, KIND, BigTeams, Quad Learning, and UrbanStem.  He is a partner in Monumental Sports and Entertainment, the owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics, as well as the Verizon Center, and a partner in the Washington Nationals.

Previously, Fred founded NEW Corp. (acquired by Asurion Corp. for $1.2 billion, where he is currently Vice Chairman). NEW Asurion is now the world’s largest consumer product protection company, employing over 13,000 people throughout the globe.

He is active in organizations dedicated to early childhood development, literacy, health, environment, peace and the arts. He sits on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations including: Fight for Children and the One Voice Movement. He is a member of Venture Philanthropy Partners and is an active supporter of the Schaufeld Family Heart Center of the Inova Loudoun Hospital and the United Way Fredrick D. Schaufeld Scholarship program.

He received his BA in Government from Lehigh University.
