Born in Jacksonville, FL, Curtis L. Whitten began his journey to success as a nationally recognized high school athlete who excelled on the football gridiron. His instant notoriety and ability earned him the opportunity to have a dynamic collegiate career at his Alma Mater Wichita State University where he received a B.S. in Criminal Justice.
After his institutional education Mr. Whitten attended the FBI Training Academy and was one of the few African-American minority graduates of Quantico at the time, then pursuing a career in investigations as an Federal Agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration in the Office of Diversion Control. After 17 years of security and investigative experience encompassing both private and government sectors serving across corrections and justice departments throughout Kansas Mr. Whitten tried his hand at the American Dream of entrepreneurship.
His extensive background and experience in commercial business and government contracting span over a period of 12 years, highly skilled and trained in all facets of the investigative process. Mr. Whitten's strong analytical, technical, communication, and leadership ability helped transform VendTech into a multi-million dollar enterprise, from very humble beginnings where he once served as the company's sole security personnel. His ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with people at all levels is pivotal in the guidance of the company's direction.
Mr. Whitten has been an attendee of the prestigious Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth's MBDA Partnership Program for Executive Education and Boston University's Entrepreneurial Management Institute.
Mr. Whitten's Professional and Community Service activities includes the following: Co-Chair of the Governors Task Force on Racial Profiling, Chairman of the Kansas African American Affairs Commission, Wichita Metro Youth Football League, President, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Member, and State of Kansas Commissioner of the Juvenile Justice Authority. Past Broad participation includes; Wichita State University Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization, BOD, Sedgwick County Regional Prevention Center, BOD, Kansas African American Museum, BOD, Communities United Credit Union, BOD.
Mr. Whitten is the current President/Managing Member of VendTech, Enterprise, LLC, a full-service private security firm providing protective services to public and private entities through the U.S. He is also the Vice-President/Managing Member of VendTech-SGI, LLC, a joint venture, with estimated total contract revenues of $600M.
