About this event

Family businesses have been the backbone of Wichita’s economy for many years, but at the core of each of these amazing companies is the spirit of entrepreneurship. Even though their last name may not change, industry and the business climate do, that is why any family business must continue to innovate constantly generation after generation. Each of these amazing leaders are not only running their family businesses, they're infusing their own style of entrepreneurship.

Ben Hutton, CEO | Hutton Construction

Ben Hutton has worked in construction all his life. As soon as he was old enough to lift a hammer, he was swinging it. At the age of 12, he started working in the industry during the summer. In 2010, he assumed the role of president, taking over for the man who instilled his love for construction, his dad Mark Hutton. Under Ben’s leadership, Hutton Construction has grown consistently and considerably. The number of employees has more than tripled through both growth and acquisition, while the company has expanded its capabilities geographically, as well as in multiple new industries. Ben transitioned to the role of chief executive officer in 2016, and his love for construction continues to radiate in his leadership.

Jason Cox, President | Cox Machine

As President of Cox Machine Inc., Jason focuses on integrating technology with the manufacturing process. Jason holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Before coming to Cox, he worked as a design engineer for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita. At Kansas State University, he worked as a design engineer for the College’s Advance Manufacturing Institute. Jason currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Exploration Place, and the Board of Directors for the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce.
