Women entrepreneurs have to overcome obstacles men simply don’t. But the effort is worth it, because it reverberates through society with out sized power and influence; every example of female leadership is going to transform someone’s life. And that’s a charge we need to take very seriously.
Sudha Tokala | Pharmacist/Real Estate Developer/Serial Entrepreneur
Sudha Tokala is no stranger to hard work and persistence. As a first generation American, Sudha moved to the United States following the completion of her pharmacy degree in India to pursue her MS/PhD in the pharmaceutical industry from the University of Kansas. Upon graduating in 1996, Sudha moved to Wichita where she worked as a research scientist and pharmacist.
While many would think that was a career in of itself, Sudha thought otherwise. Sudha has been involved in several hotel developments, a gelato coffee shop in east Wichita. Her focus now is a project in downtown Wichita worth $125 million where she has purchased a few of Wichita’s most iconic buildings with plans to develop a health science center, indoor food market and several other to be determined concepts.
Jennifer McDonald | Founder/CEO | Jenny Dawn Cellars
Jennifer is a successful entrepreneur, human resources and recruiting professional who has spent the last 10 years developing and leading strategic initiatives for some of Wichita’s largest employers. She will leverage her business acumen and leadership skills from the corporate world into the wine industry. She has spent the past four years turning her passion for wine and her love of the unique ability wine has to bring people together into a vision of expanding both depth and diversity in Wichita’s urban scene.
Beyond her Master’s Degree in Agribusiness from Kansas State University, Jennifer has developed and produced research data, received both silver and bronze medals from the Kansas Winemakers and Grape Growers Association, and most recently received the Innovations in Business Award presented by Young Professionals of Wichita and was also recognized as one of Wichita’s top 40 people in business under age 40 by the Wichita Business Journal. She also completed Wichita State University and e2e’s collaborative start-up accelerator program, Launch Prep, in May 2017. She is a wine connoisseur and studying to become a Certified Sommelier.
