How it began...

Startup Grind was founded in 2010 in Silicon Valley when Derek Andersen and a few other entrepreneurs working in the same office space got together to talk about the challenges, struggles, and excitements of launching a startup. This quickly became a monthly tradition that soon began to grow in attendance. What began as an informal meeting with a group of friends quickly became something much greater when they began to invite successful founders to share their knowledge and experience. Still, the magic remained in the conversations that were had after the event ended.

Startup Grind chapters are located in 600 cities (and counting!) across 125 countries. We are passionate about helping founders, entrepreneurs, and startups succeed by making their startup journey less lonely, more connected, and more memorable.

Startup Grind Leeds is bringing the power of our global network to boost the local ecosystem.

Our Mission is to create a greater sense of local-inclusive community to facilitate connections between startups and business organisations. We achieve that by creating the space for the founders at any stage of their journey to share the challenges and achievements and inspire one another.

Our strong tech orientation enables us to focus on sectors that are already strong in the Leeds and Yorkshire region as well as CleanTech, FinTech, Blockchain, and AI, and opening up in-depth conversations around other emerging sectors.
