Startup Grind is a global startup community designed to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs. It is powered by Google for Entrepreneurs. We host monthly events in 250 cities and 100 countries featuring successful local founders, innovators, educators and investors who share personal stories and lessons learned on the road to building great companies.
Startup Grind is a connected online and offline network of vibrant startup communities to help fuel innovation, economic growth and prosperity at the local level. While Startup Grind was founded in Palo Alto, California, our extended network of Startup Grind chapters are located around the world. Start a Chapter in your city or school!
We believe in making friends, not contacts. We believe in giving, not taking. We believe in helping others before helping yourself. We are truly passionate about helping founders, entrepreneurs and startups succeed. We intend to make their startup journey less lonely, more connected and more memorable.

I'm a PhD student in microbiology at the University of British Columbia. I'm originally from Germany and came to Vancouver in 2013. I quickly fell in love with the city and started calling it my home. I settled for real in 2015 when my wife moved over from Switzerland, we bought an apartment, and got a dog. I'm totally into the healthy, active West Coast lifestyle, which gives me motivation and energy for my work.
I joined the Startup Grind community because I'm super excited about entrepreneurship and want to grow our local network.
I started RhYme Biotechnology to leverage new technologies that can solve urgent problems. We want to create green chemicals with novel functions and replace unsustainable products.
I believe that entrepreneurship is a great opportunity to realize your ambitions, solve major problems and advance our society. It is also so much fun to start something, see your ideas come to fruition, and to make new friends along the way. I'm hoping to be able to do that as Chapter Director, too!
Having a team that can execute, adapt, and innovate is one of the most crucial factors that can make or break a business. No matter how big or small the team is they need to be connected, committed, and striving to achieve the same goals to succeed. Without that, teams waste time, money, or simply die out.
Startup Grind is joining forces with Vancouver Pixel Crafters to host Vancouver's biggest Startup holiday party for entrepreneurs and small business owners! Startup folks, freelancers and self-employed professionals are all welcome! Join us at The Cranium co-working space in Mount Pleasant as we celebrate the holidays together!
