Chennai Welcomes Startup Grind

Untitled

Startup Grind is now in Chennai, the land of the famous ‘Filter Coffee’. The global startup community, which hosts events in over 50 cities in 20 countries has arrived in ‘Namma Chennai’.  The programs will consist of both intimate fire-side talks as well as large public events, with  some of the best entrepreneurial talent our city has got! To kick start the fire-side chat, we are happy to announce that Bhoovarahan Thirumalai (better known as 'Bhoo'), one of the founders of both Aspire Systems and Aspiration Energy (among his other entrepreneurial ventures)  will be our first guest. He will be sharing his experiences with entrepreneurs on the 26th of September.

We have investors in the city by the dozen, even angel investors and startup incubators are now springing up everywhere - but they select only a handful of companies to invest in and to mentor. What happens to the rest? That’s where Startup Grind comes in, we are here to assist all entrepreneurs, no matter what their area of specialization or stage of business or even their business plan is. Our goal is to foster entrepreneurship through knowledge sharing, and networking through friendship. We believe that an entrepreneur’s journey is a lonely one, and a few friends makes it an easier trip.

Why Chennai? Apart from the fact that it is renowned for its classical music, traditionally brewed coffee, and exemplary education, it is also the hot bed for entrepreneurship. We have some of the best talent in the country, nay even the world - Bill Gates once quoted that South Indians are some of the brightest people he knows! We are also ideally located for startups, with good infrastructure,  tremendously affordable considering cost of living and quality of life, government support, and home to many large IT hubs. This is one of the best cities not only to live in, but also to do business in.

There have been success after success arising out of the city, be it Sivasankaran who started the Sterling group, to the renowned ‘The Hindu’ newspaper. There are companies such as Force 10 Networks was acquired by Dell, while home grown IT companies such as Polaris have grown to become forces to be reckoned with in the global market.

Join our meet up today and hear from these entrepreneurs their journey to the top (and sometimes bottom), what it takes, and how they overcame their hurdles to get to where they are today.

We’re actively seeking local and global sponsors who share our core values of educating, inspiring, and connecting.
