How Apple's Internal Secrecy Really Works

Last week we were fortunate to have Adam Lashinsky, author of Inside Apple, come and speak at Start up Grind. Many have read Walter Issacsons biography on the life of Steve Jobs and who he really was, Adam takes a whole different perspective and actually sheds light on some of the inner workings of the most valuable company in the world.

Hiring great people for a startup in Silicon Valley can be extremely difficult especially today, but convincing them to stay and keeping them motivated along the unpredictability of creating the next great thing, can be just as challenging. Although Apple may no longer be the tiny company started out of a garage, keeping its employees amid more lucrative offers from other competitors, is key in maintaining Apple as the most valuable company in the world.

In one of the more interesting segment of the interview, Adam speaks about the secrecy and complete dedication Apple employees share amongst themselves. This dedication which, has been compared to a religious or military organization, is what continuously motivates employees to put out their best work on a daily bases without getting much recognition or praise in return. Their greatest reward is producing an amazing product that can potentially change peoples lives.
