Running local events does a lot to grow your regional startup community - but the creation of videos from your Startup Grind events is a way to use your city to educate, inspire, and connect a world of viewers through the YouTube platform. This is so important that Derek Anderson will often say, “Video or it didn’t happen.” Now that you’ve captured your event, the process of uploading it to YouTube is as follows.
Sign Into YouTube with the credentials given to you by your Global Director.
-
Once logged in, click Upload at the top of the YouTube page.
-
Select your edited event video from your computer, which will be compressed and include Startup Grind intro/outro bumpers.
-
Select the Public privacy settings to allow our Startup Grind audience to view the videos. Begin uploading.
-
As the video uploads, add details like Title, Description, Tags that provide information about the content of the event, and more.
-
Make sure to add your video to your local country playlist, selecting the country name under the Playlist feature.
-
Finish making the final changes to the video and click Publish to make it visible on the YouTube channel. If it is not published, it will not be visible to anyone except you.
-
Once the upload is complete and you have received an email confirming the publishing, send an email to your attendees and subscribers with the video link.
How to Title YouTube Videos
Titling and tagging videos appropriately is important to making your content easily found and bringing more people to the Startup Grind YouTube page. The title and tags should tell viewers what and who they are watching, and the tags are a way to tell the viewer why they should see it. The description gives the fine detail of the video.
Title
Speaker Name (Company) - Content Headline
Example: Derek Anderson (Startup Grind) - Building & Scaling a Global Network
Description
Briefly introduce your Chapter, the guest, and provide a summary of the content and an introduction to Startup Grind.
Example Description: Startup Grind Jupiter presents Kloato, President of the Kleeborp Nation. Kloato discusses the challenges of a biodiverse society, interstellar office politics, securing funding in a nuetronium based economy, and his plan to annihilate Earth and take our resources.
Then add the following description of Startup Grind:

Tagging
Tagging is essential, as it’s the first step towards getting your videos ranked in YouTube’s search results.
Tag the following: tag startup grind, and a couple of variations (i.e. startup grind, startupgrind) as well as your city, local chapter, your speaker, his or her companies, content keywords, and any relevant tags for that speaker.
