Memphian by choice, Mississippi raised, born on the east coast, LaKeisha Harrison is the founder of PB&Biz, a startup focused on helping other startups establish their presence and brand. Before being a civic and social entrepreneur, LaKeisha earned a master’s in business administration in Health Care Management in 2007 from the University of Phoenix. She graduated from Alcorn State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After Alcorn, she worked for over 15 years as a certified Medical Laboratory Scientists and retired in early 2015 from the profession. She is an adjunct professor at American National University in the Health Sciences department. Currently, LaKeisha works at Bevy, the world’s first community event engine, as a customer support representative. From helping startups perfect a pitch to talking founders through their startup ideas and assumptions, LaKeisha has a passion for startups and seeing their founders succeed, emphasizing black founders and black women founders. In addition to PB&Biz, LaKeisha serves as the director of Startup Grind Memphis, one of over 600 chapters in the Startup Grind network. Startup Grind is the world’s largest community of startups, founders, innovators, and creators. Like-minded yet diverse individuals gather together to connect, learn, teach, help, build, and belong. She also serves on the Startup Grind Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, which is tasked with developing initiatives, programming, and identifying opportunities around the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has produced and hosted numerous events featuring founders, creators, and subject matter experts since the early 2000s. LaKeisha has also served on multiple boards, committees, and community initiatives, including MPACT Memphis, Memphis Urban League Young Professionals, and the SPARCC Community grant initiative. She is a charter member of the Zeta Alpha Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. and a member of Pi Alpha Alpha, a national honor society for public administration students. She has a deep passion and commitment to the Memphis community keeps her motivated to work hard to help others thrive!
