WeWork entered China in 2016 and opened its first location in Asia - WeWork Yanping Lu on July 1st in Shanghai. Upon its opening, it was 85% full and the location ran in full capacity within one month. In November 2016, WeWork opened its China flagship location in Wei Hai Lu.
On April 12, 2018, WeWork announced to collaborate with naked Hub to further expand its business in China.
WeWork currently has more than 50 operational locations in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong， Chengdu. In 2018, WeWork enters new cities including Shenzhen and Hangzhou. In addition, by the end of 2018 or early 2019, WeWork will also be expanding into Wuhan and Guangzhou and continue its growth to cities such as Nanjing, and Xi’an etc in 2019.

Biman Najika Liyanage
Biman is nominated for the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia for the class of 2017 in the Field of Healthcare and Sciences. Biman is a researcher, innovator, and entrepreneur who has co-founded several technology ventures in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong focusing on Mobile Internet Technology and Smart material based wearable technologies. He founded a number of tech companies including Bidup, CirQ Technologies, he is also the partner of Tamo Tech.

Biman has worked in many areas ranging from Sensor Design for UAV’s to Fashion technology cooperating with many fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, Intel, Tencent etc. As a highlight, he worked with Chinese Television Network (CCTV) integrating wearable technology in Spring festival gala synchronizing 165 dancers through real-time gesture recognition. His work has been featured in national and international media including CRI, CCTV, The Nation, Forbes etc.
He started his career at a startup accelerator supporting operations. After 1.5 years he started working for WeWork in Amsterdam opening up the first location. After a year of learning on the job, he relocated to Berlin to open up the new market in Europe. Setting up 2 locations in the capital of Germany he then took on the challenge of China where he currently manages the community team in Shanghai (18 buildings) and takes initiative to expand WeWork in China including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, and more cities.
