Kevin Pohmer is the former CEO and Chairman of Financial Guard, one of the leading fintech companies in America and pioneers of the Roboadvisor industry, which transformed how individuals receive and transact investment advice. Kevin successfully led the team that built, brought to market, and scaled Financial Guard’s technology and completed the successful sale of the company to Legg Mason (NYSE: LM) in August, 2016. During Kevin’s tenure, Financial Guard was selected as Best of the Online Investment Advisors in America by Kiplinger magazine and written about in Barrons, Forbes, NY Times, WSJ, Finovate, CUTimes, CUToday, Employee Benefit News and many other media outlets since its launch in 2013. Today, Kevin continues to be engaged in the fintech community as an investor, advisor, and entrepreneur. He currently sits on the Board and is the acting COO for IXN, the leading mobile solution for term life insurance in the growing insurtech segment, as well as one of the founding members of Fintech71 which is a public/private initiative within the State of Ohio focused on creating a fintech innovation hub and accelerator here in Columbus.
Prior to joining Financial Guard, Kevin was an Executive at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank where he enjoyed a 13 year career and played an integral role in growing J.P. Morgan Worldwide Securities Service’s business in the Americas. Kevin spent the majority of his career within the Institutional Sales group leading deal teams to bring the firm’s asset servicing, capital markets, and treasury related solutions to some of the most sophisticated public and private pensions in the world.
In addition to his corporate career Kevin enjoys giving back to his community. He is an active guest speaker within Ohio State’s business school, a corporate “Champion” of Junior Achievement, a Member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council and Marketing Council and a youth coach for girl’s soccer and lacrosse.
Kevin has a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Binghamton University and a Masters in Business Administration from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.
Kevin is married with four beautiful daughters and enjoys staying active by playing basketball and other competitive sports.
