As roll: founder and CEO, Stuart brings a personal passion as well as a wealth of retail brand development experience and expertise to the role. A self described cycling Reconnector, and passionate customer advocate, Stuart was quick to recognize the strategic business opportunity that presented itself as he navigated his way back into riding. roll: heralds a new approach to bicycle retail in the US with its high touch, high technology, customer centric stores. roll: has been recognized and written about nationally, receiving the 'best new retail concept award from BRaIN.
Prior to founding roll: as Creative Director for Retail Planning Associates Stuart was engaged in working with clients such as Adidas, Merrell Footwear, Kodak, Pacific Theatres, Toys R Us, Target, Circuit City and Best Buy. Working closely with clients to shape the strategic vision behind both new brands and the evolution of existing concepts, Stuart was responsible for leading the engagement team across all disciplines towards a common brand vision and experience.
Stuart also served as Creative Director for Fitch Worldwide, founding the West Coast retail consulting practice in San Francisco. A 10 year veteran of Fitch, Stuart has held executive positions in the US and in the UK. His award winning work with Disney, Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure, Pacific Theatres, and Vidal Sassoon has garnered numerous awards and recognition.
As well as being a frequent conference speaker, Stuart's work has been featured extensively in many monthly publications including Fast Company, Design week, VMSD, Step by Step, Blueprint, and Architectural Record, as well as published in several international design annuals and books.
